Trip Introduction:
Annapurna Circuit Trek is the most popular and scenic trekking route in the world. The total distance of the trail varies between 160–230 km (100-145 mile). This depends on whether we use vehicles and also where we end our trek.
This trekking adventure starts with an overland drive from Kathmandu to Syange / Jagat via Besishahar. Then, the trekking trail runs along the Marshyangdi River through rice paddies, terraced fields, and Hindu majority villages. Along the way, we enjoy great views of Manaslu and Himal Chuli towards the east. This popular trek takes you into the beautiful settlements inhabited by diverse ethnic groups, and spectacular views of the white snow-capped Himalayas.
Annapurna Circuit Trek: simply mesmerizing
As the trail continues to the north of the main Himalayan range onto the high and dry Tibetan Plateau, the scenery is equally breathtaking. While trekking into the Trans-Himalayan region inhabited by people of Tibetan origin, we see prayer flags, mani walls, and monasteries. It reminds of the thriving Buddhist culture and influence over the area. The trek crosses two different river valleys, encircles the Annapurna massif and finally concludes in the Kali Gandaki gorge.
The highest point of the trek is Thorong La pass at an altitude of 5416m. Due to the difficulties of crossing the pass, the circuit is usually walked in a counter-clockwise direction. Trekking clockwise with a longer ascent and shorter descent from west to east is a bit too much for many trekkers to manage in a day. The crossing of the Thorong La pass is a challenging ascent, surrounded by some of the most magnificent sceneries.
Anyone with sound health can join this trek. Since this trek is set for slow hiking pace to get full acclimatization, trekkers get the ultimate satisfaction of going through this Himalayan paradise.
As Annapurna Circuit trek is long and challenging, physical fitness and experience of trekking at high altitude is a must.
