Island Peak (6187m)
Trip Facts
Trip Introduction:
Climbing Island Peak (6189m ) or Imja Tse, is one of the most popular trekking peaks in Nepal. From Dingboche, this Island Peak looks like an island in a sea of ice. The summit of Island Peak looks impressive with an exceedingly glaciated west face rising from the Lhotse Glacier. This pyramid-shaped mountain itself is a part of the South Ridge of Lhotse Shar separated by a small Col rising to the south. The route extends to the summit of Island Peak from this south col ridge.
Climbing Island Peak
After a day’s walk from Chhukung, you will reach the Base Camp. Here we prepare ourselves to climb and ultimately to summit the Island Peak. It may take some extra days to summit the peak depending on the weather conditions at the summit of Island Peak. We will undertake the summit push (6,189m) after one night at the High Camp perched on the South West Ridge where you can see the magnificent views of the Khumbu area.
Island Peak is easy and popular among most of the adventure seekers and is willing to attempt the climb. The journey concludes at Lukla airstrip from where we will fly back to Kathmandu in the morning. The best and most suitable time for Island Peak Climbing is during spring (March to early June) and autumn (September to November). For more detail, please contact us at info@himalayanglobal.com
