Mardi Himal Trek
Trip Facts
Trip Introduction:
Mardi Himal Trek is one of the most exotic and least explored treks in the Annapurna region. It offers immense opportunity to venture into the deep forests and high alpine pastures that flank the southern Annapurna ranges. This trek is surely the best option for those who looking for a new trekking experience. Hikers do not frequent the trails that we follow, thus, sometimes it is hard to identify the trails. Along the route, we do encounter shepherds and pilgrims passing by.
Mardi Himal Trek: getting popular every year
The trek also provides outstanding mountain views, being away from the tea-house trails. On the last day of the trek, we visit some villages and experience the traditional charm of the village people. Mardi Himal trek literally adds a lifetime adventure thrill to the trekking enthusiasts. The entire area is quite steep-sided and heavily wooded with bamboo and rhododendron. Above the forest, high alpine pastures provide good grazing and a habitat for undisturbed wildlife.
Though Mardi Himal the trekking route is officially opened recently, most of the travellers visiting Nepal have shown keen interest to do this trek. This trek can be completed within 9-10 days. We begin this trek after a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara and take a local land transport to Kande, which is the trek starting point. From Kande, we follow a beautiful trail that takes us to the culturally rich villages of the Gurung ethnic community.
In spring, we can enjoy beautiful sights of rhododendrons that bloom in red colour. We spend a night at Forest camp, low camp and high camp, from where we will enjoy the best glimpse of sunrise and sunset views of Mt. Mardi Himal, Mt. Machhapuchhre ( Fishtail), and other surrounding peaks. We explore the western side of Mardi Himal base camp, located at an elevation of 4500m. After exploration, we return to Pokhara and then to Kathmandu, and finally concludes Mardi Himal trek.
