Shishapangma Expedition
Trip Facts
Trip Introduction:
Expedition to Mt Shishapangma (8027m), the 14th highest mountain and the last mountain above 8000 meters. This is one of the popular expedition that we at Himalayan Global Expedition undertake. Mt. Shishapangma is in Tibet near Langtang peak at the Nepalese border. This mountain opened up for climbing to other mountaineers in 1978 by the Chinese authority.
Shishapangma is considered as one of the most straight forward mountain peaks for climbing. North-west ridge is easy enough, thus, the success rate of summiting is quite high. Xǔ Jìng and Nine Climbers, all Chinese team, first climbed Mount Shishapangma (8027m) in 1964.
Expedition to Mt Shishapangma: Route
Shishapangma base camp rests at 5000m. It offers a spectacular view of the mountain and the ridges. Advanced Base Camp of the Shishapangma is located on the glacier at the west side of the moraines at an elevation of 5400m. Shishapangma is summitted only after reaching three camps during ascent. Ascending fairly steep snow slopes, rocky ridge, and finally, the solid snow takes us to the summit. From here we see the enchanting views of Everest, Lhotse, Cho Oyu and many more.
Expedition to Mt Shishapangma is easy as compared to Everest and Manaslu. Though, physical and mental fitness is a must to accomplish the climb. Anyone with physical and mental fitness and a minimum of 7 hours per day strenuous walking ability can complete Shishapangma Expedition easily. A person with previous experience of non-technical/technical peak, climbing and trekking in high altitudes can also easily complete this trip.
Himalayan Global Expedition provides experienced Sherpa climbers who will help ascent Mt Shishapangma successfully.
