Paldor Peak (5,896m)
Trip Facts
Trip Introduction:
Paldor Peak Climbing is also a popular itinerary among peak climbing activity in Nepal. Paldor Peak (5,896m/19,339ft.) lies in a remote area of the Langtang region at the south-east end of the Ganesh Himal. This area offers excellent walking trails for climbers and trekkers alike. The trail connects Tiru and Karpu crest at the head of the Mailung Khola. A tributary of the Trishuli Gandaki River. This peak is climbed either via the North East, South East, West and South-West Ridge. Bill Tilman, Peter Lloyd, Tenzing Sherpa and Da Namgyal in 1949 first climbed the peak through the North-East Ridge.
Paldor Peak Climbing: what you see
While trekking, you will catch glimpses of stunning tranquil lakes, beautiful waterfalls, great Himalayan landscapes and lush green farming terraces. Likewise, you also get an insight into the lifestyle and culture of the local indigenous communities. The quickest approach to Paldor Peak is from Sabrubensi near Dunche in the Trisuli valley, which can be reached in a 6 to 7 hours drive from Kathmandu. Proceeding further from here we begin the trek crossing the Trisuli river way up to Tangjet and Gatlang villages. Again we head northwards along the ridge before dropping into the forest just above Mailung. The moraine-filled valley underneath Paldor peak is accessible from Sabrubensi itself. After summiting, we trek downhill to Sybrubensi in 4 or 5 days and take a vehicle back to Kathmandu.
