Pisang Peak Climbing
Trip Facts
Trip Introduction:
Pisang Peak Climbing is yet another of the easy climbing peaks. Pisang (6,091m) lures more climbers, among the many other trekking peaks in Nepal. To reach the base camp from Pisang village, the path ascends through thin forest and pastures. We reach a "kharka" (grazing land) at an elevation of 4,380m which is considered as the best spot to pitch camp.
Pisang Peak Climbing: the easy summit
At 5,400m after climbing the shoulder on the south-west ridge, we set up High Camp. Snow covers the high camp from the end of November till the end of March. The well-defined ridge leads to the final snow slope. This slope is quite steep and thus is a little difficult to reach the summit. Summit of the peak offers a truly splendid view of the Annapurna group including Tilicho Peak, Annapurna II and IV, Ghangapurna and the Glacier Dome.
Pisang Peak is indeed a "sightseeing peak”. We descend through the same route after a successful summit to base camp. Next day we continue our Trek back from Base Camp to Chame and then drive from Chame to Besishar the next day. From Besishar we drive back to Kathmandu.
